Head of Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church to get birthday present from New York

On April 12, Ukrainian diaspora will celebrate the 75-th birthday of the head of UGCC Cardinal Liubomyr Huzar and his 50-th anniversary of receiving his priesthood. The organizers of the jubilee decided to pass the hat around and send the money to L. Huzar in Kyiv. The money will go to complete the construction of a UGCC cathedral, UGCC press service told ZIK March 21. -

Among the organizers are people who have known Liubomyr Huzar since his schooldays or joint work in a boy scout organization or as their priest.

“Let us bow our heads to Patriarch Liubomyr on the occasion of his 75-th birthday and 50-th anniversary of priesthood. At the same time, let us be generous and help him to complete the construction of the Resurrection cathedral in the Ukrainian capital. This deed is worthy of our hefty donations and sincere prayers,” head of the New York organizing committee Mykola Haliv said.
