Head of the Lviv oblast council Myroslav Senyk didn’t sign the petition by local lawmakers urging Pres Yushchenko to ban the Communist party and the Party of Regions, allegedly for their anti-Ukrainian activities. The petition was passed by lawmakers on March 18, the council’s deputy head, Mykola Horyn told ZIK March 27.

Senyk did not violate the council’s regimen because 9 deputies had revoked their signatures on the petition. The petition will be put to another vote at the April 15 session, Horyn said.

Horyn is sure the council won’t pass the petition because there’s a growing awareness among the deputies that the petition, if approved, will discredit the council.
