If democrats fail to field a single candidate, they will lose election in Kyiv, A. Parubij warns

Speaking in his March 27 press conference in Lutsk, Our Ukraine’s lawmaker Andrij Parubij said, commenting on the forthcoming mayoral election in Kyiv: “It will be very hard to elect a new mayor if the democratic forces do not put up a single candidate. Failing this, incumbent Mayor Chernovetsky will be elected for another 4 years. Unfortunately, not all favor the idea of a single democratic candidate.”

“We proposed to nominate Vitaly Klitschko who is politically midway between NUNS and BYUT and has the approval rating that can match Chernovetsky’s popularity.

Now, another candidate, BYUT’s Oleksandr Turchynov is likely to be fielded, with Pora following suit. If Turchynov, Klitschko, Omelchenko, Tomenko, Kutsenko and others join the race, what will happen? I think, it is the problem of political responsibility of parties.”
