Losses from Stepova coal mine fire run into $1.2 million, presidential advisor Petro Olijnyk says

The fire at the Stepova mine has dealt a heavy blow to the LvivVuhillia Co., as the richest coal course in the basin caught fire. The mine’s daily losses stand at about $180,000, presidential advisor Petro Olijnyk told ZIK Apr 9.Daily extraction at the mine reaches 2,000 tons of coal. With the price of 1 ton at $90, 8-day losses have reached $1.2 million.
To cushion the economic losses incurred by the mine, the government is prepared to raise its price for LvivVuhillia coal. Steps to resume work at the mine are being taken, Olijnyk said.

The fire at the 550-deep Stepova started at 16.40. on April 2.
Experts are working to establish the cause of the fire.All the 92 miners who were trapped by the fire were safely evacuated from the mine.
