Yulia Tymoshenko thanks Hanna Herman. Will there be a new coalition?

Premier Yulia Tymoshenko thanked Party of Regions lawmaker Hanna Herman for support and decency in her comments on the incident involving her daughter and son-in-law in Odesa. “I was pleasantly surprised by Hanna Herman’s comments. Our family needed this kind of reaction. I fully agree with Mrs Herman that using the children of politicians for political provocations is indecent, and I thank her for her attitude. I am very pleased to know that, despite different political affiliations, we do not forget the higher values, morals, dignity and honor. It send us a signal that everything will be fine in Ukraine. There are more honest and decent people in Ukraine than those who live in mud and go for muck-raking,” Yulia Tymoshenko said, the premier’s press service release runs.

Several days ago, Yulia Tymoshenko’s daughter Yevhenia and her husband, a British born rock musician Sean Carr, went to Odesa in the company of bikers. They intended to get to the beach on bikes but the police stopped them. In a scuffle that followed 2 police officers were allegedly injured by Mr Carr.

June 22, Odesa police issued a statement pointing the finger to Sean Carr and saying he attacked the officers.

The next day, Interior Ministry interfered, retracting the Odesa police statement and accusing them of exploiting the situation for political ends. The interior ministry opened a probe into the incident.

June 24, Regions lawmaker Hanna Herman called to stop playing dirty political games around premier’s daughter and son-in-law. In a statement, Hanna Herman says, “I’m calling on politicians not to lose their dignity. Don’t lets forget that the life goes on even after the completion of one’s political careers. Most of us will stay in this country and we will have to be able to look each other in the eye. I’m referring to a filthy play involving Tymoshenko’s daughter.”

It is ignoble to engage politicians using provocations against their children, it is inhuman. Such tactics will never do any good to the instigators of the scandal, H. Herman stressed.
