The Ukrainian cabinet has reached a compromise with Gazprom on gradual increases in its natural gas prices, starting in 2009, Premier Yulia Tymoshenko said at her cabinet session, commenting on her July 22 talks with Gazprom head O.Miller.“We have found acceptable solutions to pricing the natural gas in 2009. We have reached a compromise on the strategy of pricing,” she said.
According to The Ukrainska Pravda, the final price for gas will be announced in the wake of Gazprom talks with Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan suppliers who have recently announced price hikes.
‘I can assure you that Russia will phase in new gas prices for Ukraine within the next several years. There won’t be any surprise hikes and stress situations,” she added.
“We have seen coordinated work of two governments, Russian and Ukrainian, of Naftohaz and Gazprom,” she stressed.
