Yushchenko says he takes his role in 2010 easy

“Decisions taken behind the back of the democratic coalition have resulted in passing unconstitutional laws. They are aimed at dismantling democratic achievements in Ukraine,” the incumbent said, addressing his press conference in the Cherkasy oblast Sept. 12, ZIK reports.
“When Georgia met with a standoff with Russia and had
to decide on how to repulse foreign threats, the Georgian ruling party
united with the opposition, saying “We are a single nation, we cannot
be divided,” Viktor Yushchenko stressed.
Those Georgians, Yushchenko continued, who fled the
country in protest 2 years ago requested the country leaders to let
them return and take arms to defend their country.
Instead of thinking about the 2010 presidential
elections, Yushchenko said, we have better think about how to react to
such kind of threats.
“I am saddened by the BYUT leader (Yulia Tymoshenko)
initiative to hold sessions of rayon, city and oblast councils all over
Ukraine to express their distrust in the president and executive. It
amounts to a coup whose only aim is to destabilize Ukraine.
My role in 2010 (the year of the next presidential election) makes no difference to me. I value the principles and values for which I work every day. I will never betray these principles, no matter how much it will cost me. High or low approval rating – I know my goal in life,” the incumbent concluded.
