What happened today is another indication that the Orange period is over, Regions faction deputy head Anna Herman declared, addressing lawmakers Oct. 1, Regions Oct. 1 press service release runs. She said important lessons must be learned.
“Orange politicians are well versed in how to entertain kings [Sweden’s king came to Kyiv Oct. 1] but they cannot reach out to their own people. There’s so much rattle about Ukraine and its symbols, but when the Ukrainian flag is hoisted upside down over the ocean, there is no one to tell the hosts not to humiliate our state symbols. The Orange patriotism ends at the Ukrainian border, at the Western border to be exact, not at the Eastern border,” Herman stressed.
Another lesson to be learned, Herman continued, is that the end of the Orange period also spelled the end of Orange “heroes.”
“When we were commemorating the memory of Nazi victims and the prime minister was laying flowers at the monument, the premier’s guards barred access to the venue to several senior citizens eager to be present at the ceremony. If Yulia Tymoshenko does not fire those who denied entry to the veterans, it will be the end of not only the Orange period but the end of the Orange Princess,” Herman argued.
According to Herman, the end of any period in history marks the beginning of a new period. “New history must be created in which there should be 2 colors, the blue and the yellow. The blue color is the color of the Party of Regions and it must be combined with the yellow color of wheat and sun. It all makes the We must the color of our national flag,” she summed up.
