Statement on Georgia no longer required, Taras Stetskiv says

Coalition talks between BYUT and NUNS continue. One of the stumbling blocks for negotiators is a statement on Georgia, as one part of NUNS headed by Vyacheslav Kyrylenko favors a strongly-worded statement. However, the rest of the NUNS faction members criticize this position, citing Oct. 2 PACE statement which condemns both sides in the conflict. This statement crosses the Ts, and no other statements are required, they say, Taras Stetskiv of NUNS told ZIK Oct. 3.

He says he cannot tell when the coalition talks will end, but there are several days in which the coalition can be formed. “As the talks are on track and both sides, BYUT and NUNS, are taking part, the time frame is not so much important. I believe, the president should appreciate the effort,” he said.

Taras Stetskiv say the president will take his time and not disband Verkhovna Rada soon. “If the president is aware that the talks are on track, it would give him a bad name if he disbands parliament at this time,” the lawmaker stressed.

The Lytvyn bloc has distanced itself from coalition talks, says Stetskiv. “They [the Lytvyn bloc members] do not explain the reasons. Most probably, ther are interested in some posts but they have not publicized their claims yet. The Lytvyn bloc keeps a low profile so far. It was their own decision,” the lawmaker noted.
