Alpine BAU accuses Lviv Mayor Andrij Sadovyj of fraud

October15200818:59

Austria’s Alpine BAU Gmbh, the official winner of an investment tender to build a stadium in Lviv for Euro-2012 tournament, has announced that it did not take part in the tender, stopped its talks with the Lviv mayoral office and terminated its participation in the project, the Lviv Public Forum NGO press service told ZIK Oct. 15.

The information was placed by this world-known company on its website. A representative of the Lviv Public Forum NGO contacted the Alpine Co. for more details. The company’s press secretary Karin Keglevych confirmed the information on the website and assured that her company did not participate in any tender in Lviv. There was a direct request for cooperation from the mayor’s office, and further work with the mayor’s office was based on contracts. In the course of the talks, the mayor’s office declared the cost of the stadium at euro 85 million, VAT included. After several rounds of talks, Alpine decided to refrain from implementing the project, saying the stadium meeting all UEFA standards cannot be built at such a cost, according to Roman Esterbauer, Alpine director.

At the request of the mayor’s office, Alpine agreed to prepare the stadium design. Accordingly, a contract was signed with the mayor’s office. The design was prepared on time, and Alpine sent the bill to Lviv. However, no money was transferred as payment for the design. Karin Keglevych refused to name the amount, saying we could learn it in the mayor’s office.

As regards the stadium construction, the partners failed to reach an agreement on the costs. Therefore, Alpine terminated the talks, and as long as the company did not take part in the tender, it bore no obligations towards the city.

The Lviv Public Forum was shocked by this information and demands the city mayor and Lviv council deputies answer these questions:

1) Who took part in the tender to build a stadium in which Alpine was declared official winner?

2) What is the cost of the project made by Alpine and how will the city pay for it?

3) Who and when will be held accountable for the damage incurred to the city?

4) What company and when will build the stadium in Lviv?
