Yushchenko to sit on the fence until crisis kills Tymoshenko’s ratings
November05200819:08
Yushchenko has given up his idea to hold snap elections in Ukraine – for a while. Now the ratings of politicians in power will be in the hands of the crisis. As soon as Tymoshenko opponents see that her support is dwindling, the probability of snap elections will grow, head of Kyiv-based Penta think tank Volodymyr Fesenko told ZIK Nov. 5.As snap elections cannot be held during the New Year and Christmas holidays, they will possibly take place in late January or early February. There is ban on snap elections 6 months before a presidential election, so the early elections will be in spring, the expert opined.
The closer we come to the presidential election, the less sense there is in having snap elections, V. Fesenko pointed out.
