Speaker Yatseniuk was thrown to the wolves in an effort to deal a blow to Yulia Tymoshenko, she was the target, political expert Volodymyr Tsybulko told ZIK Nov. 13.
Several factors have led to Speaker Yatseniuk’s dismissal. “First, the fear of the crisis. Industrial tycoons in VR tried to bring the situation under their control as they realized that the speaker’s peace-making moves were favoring the premier. It is known that the cabinet’s managerial strategies do not sit well with Ukraine’s export-oriented tycoons.”

“The more so that the cabinet’s efforts were aimed at expanding imports, not exports. However, all this political manouevering is merely an external casing for the underlying fear of the crisis,” Volodymyr says.

When Yulia Tymoshenko feels that a new coalition has emerged in Verkhovna Rada, she will resign as she is aware of the responsibility for economic failures. She will try to flee form responsibility in order to save her political face, the expert says.

A major challenge for Tymoshenko is the new draft 2009 budget. VR with a new speaker might endorse such a budget that Tymoshenko will be forced to resign, Tsybulko believes.
Print
