I’ll showcase my party in a month, but there won’t be any place in it for turncoats, former Speaker Yatseniuk says

In a month, VR former speaker is to present his own political party whose agenda he describes as “state-regulated liberalism.” Until then, he would not elaborate on the project, he said, speaking in his press conference in Lviv Nov. 15.

He stressed that he came to Lviv not to hype his future party but as founder of the Open Ukraine charity fund. The trip was on his agenda since several weeks, he said.

His future party will be a democratic one. He elaborated by saying that for him democracy is not a chaos, but an activity within the framework of the law. A true democracy hinges on two conditions: the absence of political and economic monopoly.

“They tried to impose political monopoly in Ukraine, with a single decision-making center. This policy is not for Ukraine, there can’t be a tsar in this country,” he noted.

His party’s economic agenda is focused on competitiveness and opportunities for individuals to develop and have equal access to opportunities.

Arseny Yatseniuk said the core of his party will be made up of politicians who had not been involved with other political parties before. “We won’t have turncoats or driftwood,” he summed up. Simultaneously, he opted for enrolling mature politicians, adding that he needs experience and consistency in politics as a means of success.

Asked about the reaction to his dismissal, Yatseniuk replied that he learned with surprise that many of his colleagues had become short-sighted or long-sighted overnight, failing to recognize him any longer. As soon as he was appointed to a key position, he invariably found such people in his office, begging for favors.

“If I were a puppet, you would be talking now to the Rada speaker,” A. Yatseniuk concluded.
