Deputy head of Verkhovna Rada’s ad hoc commission to investigate the circumstances of signing the gas trade contract with Russia Oleksa Hudyma (BYUT) has accused Ukraine’s Security Service, SBU, of lobbying for the interests of RosUkrEnergo. Hudyma addressed VR, saying the commission head Inna Bohoslovska (Party of Regions), who took the floor before him, presented her own vision and not the preliminary commission report, The Ukrayinska Pravda says.“I can agree with only one conclusion by Mrs. Bohoslovska that the accusations by Russia of gas siphoning off by Ukraine were false. All other things she said were lies,” Hudyma stressed.
Hudyma said that the final report must include information about Naftohaz close-to-bankruptcy financial position ahead of the talks with Russia and about those who had run Naftohaz into debt. “We know very well that in early 2008 Naftohaz was Hr 10 billion in debt, and thanks to the efforts by the cabinet, this debt has been repaid by the time the talks with Russia started,” Hudyma explained.
“We also insist that the commission’s final report must define the political role of Lyovochkin, Firtash and Bojko in torpedoing the talks with Russia in late December. Incidentally, Gazprom’s president Miller also pointed his finger at the trio, accusing them of disrupting the talks,” Hudyma added.
“RosUkrEnergo proposed to buy gas from Russia at a much higher price than the Ukrainian negotiators did – and this led to the collapse of negotiations,” Hudyma explained.
“We have known that the Party of Regions is RosUkrEnergo’s major broker. But now there is another broker for this corrupt middleman – the Security Service of Ukraine,” Hudyma said.
“In his letter to Naftohaz President Oleh Dubyna, the first deputy SBU head summoned those officials who were involved in the customs clearance procedures for the gas transferred by Gazprom to Naftohaz,” the lawmaker informed.
“It so happens that not only Lyovochkin, Firtash and Bojko, not only the Party of Regions are covering up for RosUkrEnergo. Today, it is also the SBU,” Hudyma summed up.
