Gazprom: Ukraine can skip yet another gas crisis
Another gas crisis can be avoided in Ukraine if EU and Russia bankroll preventive measures, Gazprom head Aleksei Miller said in the course of his meeting with Bulgaria’s Bulgazprom head Dimitry Gogov, Russia’s RIA Novosti reports.

So far, a gas crisis in Ukraine can be avoided, if Europe and Russia invest in preventive measures. Time is not waiting,” Miller said.

Addressing the Russia-EU summit in Khabarovsk on May 22, Russia Pres Medvedev said Kremlin has doubts that Kyiv can afford to pay for 19.5 bln cu. m. of gas to be pumped in its underground gas reservoirs. The gas, costing over $4 bln., is important to keep up steady gas supplies to Europe in winter. Pres Medvedev proposed to the EU to give Ukraine a syndicated credit. He said that not only Russia should help Ukraine.
