OU (Kyiv branch) organization has taken a decision not to attend the June 27 party convention, saying its members won’t be a crowd of extras, UNIAN reports, citing OU press service.

June 25 OU board session has convinced us that the June 27 convention will be a concerted show to rubberstamp the already agreed resolutions, the Kyiv branch statement runs.

“The party presidium has opted to make short work of those who dare to express their own opinion. The main goal of the convention is to destroy the democratic coalition in VR and thus to destabilize the situation in Ukraine,” the release goes on.

“According to the show schemers, our party is to become an obedient tool to rock the Ukrainian boat. Political interests and survival of some distinguished persons [a hint at the president – Transl.] are put above the interests of the country,” the statement runs.

Given this, the OU Kyiv branch members won’t be a crowd of extras for the directors of this ill-conceived show, they say.

“If OU leaders don’t heed the protests of rank-and-file members, continue to roll back the party’s democratic traditions, pushing OU into a political abyss, continue to destabilize the situation, and destroy the democratic coalition, the Kyiv branch members will consider the option of quitting Our Ukraine,” the statement warns.

The June 27 convention is expected to debate whether or not to stay in the present coalition with BYUT. The head of OU Kyiv branch is the leader of NUNS faction in VR Mykola Martynenko.
